Centered on STEAM
Centered on STEAM
When we partner together, we can find success for each child in our community, during and beyond their time at Brooklyn Center Elementary. We’re excited to work with your whole family as your child embarks on their learning journey.
Every student in our district receives STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) education through a magnet-school model.
Jump-start education through full-day pre-K
Our robust pre-K program engages the youngest learners through play, song and fun to build literacy and create a strong bridge to kindergarten. At Brooklyn Center Elementary, we offer a full-day pre-K program with transportation available for all children in the program.
Continue the learning journey in kindergarten
In kindergarten, students meet new friends, learn from dedicated educators and begin building a critical foundation for success in their own future learning. Students gain experience in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, which are taught and blended together throughout the day giving children a wide variety of opportunities to learn.
Ideas into action in grades 1-5
Here, your student will enter a space where diversity is embraced and the seeds of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) learning are planted. In all elementary grade levels, your child will thrive in learning environments where learning fuels their unique genius.
ENRICHMENT AND CHILDCARE PROGRAMS
Immersive before- and after-school learning
Your student will have access to enrichment and childcare programs that engage them in learning and activities outside of the classroom. Students are inspired to pursue their interests while developing friendships, independence and confidence.
Family Houses at Brooklyn Center Elementary
Starting in fall 2020, Brooklyn Center Elementary is introducing a Family House model where students will belong to a K-5 core group. In addition to K-5 teachers, each house has the following staff members:
English language teacher
Special education support
Student support specialists
Special area teachers, such as music, gym, art and Project Lead the Way (PLTW)
Students will work with the same staff members during their entire elementary experience, creating a culture of empathy and belonging.
Anti-racism in Brooklyn Center
Diverse. Inclusive. Courageous.
In Brooklyn Center, we advocate for social, economic and political change to meet the needs of our beautifully eclectic community. And we know that diversity must lead to inclusion if we want to make meaningful progress. So, instead of avoiding discomfort, we work to reject our biases — big or small — by confronting them with ferocity and compassion.
